The internal sound that came with my Dell was nowhere near loud enough to listen to movies online, so I bought these speakers. I didn\’t expect stereo sound, just louder sound. It gives that and it\’s pretty good stereo sound. The only reason I didn\’t give 5 stars is there are no instructions at all in the package. I\’m not totally ignorant about computer add-ons, but obviously I\’m not savvy enough to just figure this out without a little difficulty. I thought all I would have to do is plug in the two round speakers into the headset jack and I\’d get sound, but that is not the case. Just plugging the speakers into the jack does almost nothing to add sound. This is really what you need to do: unwind the cord around the flat disk piece (which I thought you would only need to use if you were using battery power, which is not the case), you will then see the audio out and DC holes; plug the cord from the disk into the headset jack of your computer, plug the speakers into the audio out of the disk piece; plug the small end of the USB cord into the disk and the flat end into the USB port of your computer. Instant sound! It\’s loud enough now for me to still hear it in the next room. The fact that the pieces all fit together is kind of neat and would be great for travel if you are not trying to put it in a slim laptop case. Just leave the pieces separate if you really need it for travel and it should fit in most laptop bags. If you want something really small and flat, this is not for you. They are basically just normal computer speakers that are round and fit together to make a ball for travel. The sound is good for watching movies.

I bought these while traveling for a couple weeks and wanting something besides my pathetic, Dell 620 mono-speaker as I listened to some music. They sound fine and contrary to other reviews are not hard to set up. 1) Plug the speakers into the power unit. 2) It\’s just a USB cable for power, if you opt out of using batteries and 3) the jack for sound. 4) Turn it on and you\’re set to go. Or you could by pass the power unit and just plug the speakers directly into your laptop. Sound wise, they are what they are. You shouldn\’t expect a sub-woofer experience. Using my laptop, I\’ll get distortion once I go above 60% of the volume. Portability wise, the speakers snap to the battery unit and the cords wrap around it. Size-wise, imagine packing up something like a really big grapefruit, though lighter in weight. They won\’t work for a brief case.Like most things, you get what you pay for, in this case $20 speakers.
